Sell More with Newsletter

Newsletter has been known for strategic marketing media almost since 30 years ago. Honestly said, not all businesses today put the newsletter campaign on their marketing plans just because the preparation process behind of each release often requires time and energy to achieve great results.

Similar to a website, an email newsletter needs to be designed carefully to maintain its freshness, uniqueness, and also your brand consistencies. Long story short, people won’t read boring newsletter. And remember, there are hundreds of spam messages everyday. Then what you’ll need is to break the regular email messages.

More on this post, we have included three newsletters from different business to show you how they work.

Air Asia

AirAsia's Newsletter

This may be the one of success budget airlines in Southeast Asia. AirAsia’s major promotions are in daily newspapers and finally, email newsletter to spread their zero-cost ticket campaign. Sometimes it is hard to avoid our finger to not clicking their campaign. Even when we have no plan to travel around. What a very interesting design!

They manage the main message in a big, bold, and catchy font. No elegant font or formal language involved here because they are stick to their core business to communicate: budget & low-cost airline.

Rushfaster

Rushfaster is an Australian bags retailer store with broad range of products and brands, from iPhone cases to gigantic backpacks. However, it is almost impossible to list all of their products into one newsletter each week. Instead, only selected kind of bags are included on each release based on their marketing milestone.

Rushfaster's Newsletter

We love their ways to impress the reader. Clear font and spaces between sections, great writings, nice price tags, and pretty clear product shots. They managed their looks perfectly along with impressive slogan: “bags you won’t find on everyone else”.

So when we need a bag, our mind instantly tells to go to Rushfaster.
This is simply a perfect example of powerful newsletter design for online store.

Not so good Newsletter

We have described two examples of success newsletters above. And here is one of the not-so-good part of Newsletter design we have collected so far. Actually the conveyed message is excellent. But the design is too crowded. We don’t get the thing they’ve offered instantly also the differences between them and competitors.

Photobox Newsletter

Yes we already know that Photobox provide discounted photo print service. But in regular email activities, we didn’t get it. They lack of something unique and clarity between message and images. So we need to spare another minute to get the message and probably being skipped by other busy readers.

Conclusions

As previously noted, most of newsletter uses big and solid typefaces along minimalist graphic usage. They tend to use this kind of design approach to immediately noticed by their readers among other messages on the mailbox everyday. Hence, unique factor among competitors and nice treatments on copywriting still the ultimate ingredient to boost your sales.

Time of delivery also important in email marketing campaign. People will be bothered when receiving newsletter during Monday and regular work hours. Instead, lunch time and rest time would be the perfect timing.

Have we left something? or found another nice newsletter? Let us know! :D
