You already know which cinema to go? Keep yourself up to date by checking current movie schedules playing at Cinema 21 in Bali.
Watching cinema with fellow film enthusiasts (or basically anyone who wants to spend some time to chill and enjoy their choice of the newest movies) will make you feel a different atmosphere, comparing to seeing movies on TV or on your DVD player. The cost is definitely higher, but you will get a more satisfying experience!
The movies shown in Bali cinemas are generally the latest ones from Hollywood (with Indonesian subtitle) and Indonesia (without English subtitle).
Among less than 10 public cinemas in Bali, we covered Cinema 21, the largest Indonesian cinema network. Luckily we have 4 Cinema 21 in Bali!
At Mall Bali Galleria, Jalan By Pass Ngurah Rai, Simpang Dewa Ruci Junction, Kuta
Galleria XXI used to be one of two Bali cinemas that were operating in early 2000s (the other one was Wisata 21 Denpasar, now Denpasar Cineplex). Their two studios (no Premiere) show mainly Hollywood movies. You can purchase the ticket on the spot and via online booking M-Tix. The price starts from Rp 50.000 on Monday-Thursday, Rp 60.000 on Friday, and Rp 75.000 on Saturday, Sunday and national holidays.
The lobby is not big, with a “Concessions” counter where you can buy popcorns and beverages. No tables available, which means the snacks and drinks are made to binge on while watching your movie. Galleria XXI is easily accessible from Denpasar, situated on Bypass Ngurah Rai - Simpang Dewa Ruci hectic junction, at one of the popular malls in Bali, Mall Bali Galleria (the cinema is separated from the mall, but in the same area).
This shopping mall is frequented by locals, not many foreigners or tourists are seen. The mall’s atrium is good to lounge around and have some fresh air after keeping your eyes too focused on movie. This space is used as the spot for music shows, exhibitions, modelling competitions, or other events that are mostly packed by locals. A variety of restaurants and cafes are available at every corner, providing local and international food with relatively friendly price (comparing to other malls in Kuta).
A duty free store at the entrance is perhaps the mall’s no. 1 tourists’ destination, because there are not many tourists’ points of interest in the mall. If you want to go grocery shopping after movie, you can head to Hypermart supermarket where you will find everything you need, from food to electronic stuff. For furniture and home improvement, Ace Hardware provides great choices. Matahari Department Store has their affordable selections of clothes, make ups, bags, shoes, etc. If you happen to make dentist appointment before or after movie, Bali Dental Clinic is on the second floor.
At Beachwalk Mall 2nd Floor, Jalan Pantai Kuta, Kuta
Beachwalk XXI was opened in October 2012, being the third cinemas to open in Bali. Located at the second floor of Beachwalk, the mall across Bali’s iconic Kuta Beach, the cinema quickly gained moviegoers attention with its Premiere studio alongside Studio 1 and 2.
The “Concessions” counter offers a wider selections, from popcorns, coffee, juices, to hotdogs. You can enjoy these not only for movies, but also in their mezzanine lounge and in the main lounge nearby the hall to the studios. The ticket for non-premiere screens costs exactly like Galleria XXI’s. For Premiere, it will cost you Rp 100.000 on Monday to Thursday, Rp 150.000 on Friday, and Rp 200.000 on Saturday, Sunday, and national holidays. They also accept cards payment.
Beachwalk is a charming mall with wonderful sunset view and excellent dining outlets, salons, spas, book shop, optical stores, and high-end fashion brands. Their super strategic location is a perfect meeting point in Kuta.
If you feel like going clubbing or just enjoying some good sundowners menu at rooftop dining decks, simply go to Velvet Rooftop Bar & Hypnotized Club that is visible from Beachwalk XXI. Indonesian culture enthusiasts would not want to miss Museum Kain on the second floor (you will pass this on your way to the cinema). The small museum has various Indonesian batik collections and you can learn the history of each fabric and how they are made.
At Park 23 Entertainment Center, Park 23 Mall 3rd Floor, Jalan Kediri, Tuban
Park 23 XXI is another cinema at the mall which was launched in September 2015. It’s just 7 minutes away from airport and 15 minutes from Beachwalk, located on the third floor of Park 23 Mall on Jalan Kediri, Tuban.
This is the only Bali cinema with 4 screens (but no Premiere) and the ticket price is cheaper! On Monday to Thursday, it’s only Rp 40.000, Rp 50.000 on Friday, and Rp 60.000 on Saturday, Sunday, and national holidays. Their “Concessions” options are similar to Beachwalk XXI.
The mall is small and far from overcrowded, so enjoying movies can be truly entertaining. Even though it has not many outlets yet, you will find food courts, coffee shops, and fashion stores with affordable price.
At Level 21 Mall 2nd Floor, Jalan Teuku Umar No.1, Denpasar
The newest movie theatre in the island, Level 21 XXI was opened in November 2016 along with the launching of Level 21 Mall on Jalan Teuku Umar, Denpasar. Being an alternative option of movie theatres in Denpasar, Level 21 XXI presents 5 screens with one premiere on the mall’s second floor.
From Monday to Thursday regular tickets cost Rp 50.000, on Friday Rp 60.000, weekends and national holidays Rp 75.000. The premiere is definitely higher, but cheaper than Beachwalk XXI’s Premiere: Monday-Thursday Rp 100.000, Friday Rp 125.000, Saturday, Sunday, and national holidays Rp 150.000. An open air chill out lounge is nicely placed right outside the theatre.
At the heart of Denpasar, Level 21 Mall is always jam-packed with youngsters and families, mostly Denpasar residents. The city mall is completed with food tenants like Burger King and Starbucks, fashion outlets, children playground Timezone, bookstore Gramedia, and a fitness center Celebrity Fitness.
